BARROW ARCHERY CLUB - Barrow in Suffolk
Welcome to the Barrow Archery Club which is hosted at the Suffolk Academy based in Barrow, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, East Anglia. The Suffolk Academy is located within the Suffolk countryside and provides the ideal setting for both experienced and beginner archers alike. We are easily accessible from the A14 and A11 making our site easy to reach from Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.
The Barrow Archery Club provides all types of target archery activities including lessons, competitions and organised events throughout the year. So whether you are interesting in learning archery or looking for an activity to celebrate a special occasion or corporate event then the Barrow Archery Club will have something to offer.
Target archery is the most popular form of archery, in which members shoot at stationary circular targets at varying distances. All types of bow - longbow, barebow, recurve and compound - can be used. In Great Britain, Imperial rounds, measured in yards, are still used for a lot of tournaments and these have slightly different rules to FITA (metric) rounds, which are used internationally. Archers are divided into seniors and juniors, with juniors being those under the age of 18.
The Barrow Archery Club facilities include purpose built under cover archery range, floodlighting, use of equipment if required (see below), indoor refreshment area and toilet facilities.

The cost of archery equipment is very expensive, however, we have set out several options below for those interested in archery here at The Suffolk Academy.
Option 1
£12 per hour per person (minimum 2 people) - £10 per person if Academy Gym members
Includes instruction, equipment hire and Insurance
Option 2
£40 Beginners course of 4 hours (2 x 2 hour sessions)
Includes instruction, equipment hire and Insurance
Option 3
£25 to join the Barrow Archery Club (must be experienced or have completed beginners course)
Then £2 per shoot at designated times with your own equipment, or £5 per shoot with hire equipment.
Includes Insurance. Minimum of 2 people on the range at any time.
Barrow Archery Club Times:
Saturdays 1pm – 3pm
Sundays 1pm – 3pm
Tuesdays 5.30pm – 9pm
Wednesdays 5.30pm – 9pm
